The bitter friend-to-enemies match between Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington will serve as a milestone in UFC history.
One of UFC's toughest rivals will emerge on March 5 when Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal face off in UFC 272. The main event is scheduled for Saturday, March 5, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Covington and Masvidal are former allies who have become hateful enemies. While fans have long wanted to see the two squares in Octagon, the two are tied to their individual feud with UFC welterweight champion Kumaro Usman.
Masvidal (35-15) and Covington (16-3) are each losing to UFC welterweight champion Kumaro Usman. Masvidal lost two consecutive fights with Usman, while Usman defeated Covington in two of his last three. Musvidal scored high light rail finishes for Net Diaz, Ben Screen and Darren Till in 2019, which led to Usman's fight. Covington have won their last eight bouts outside the UFC title fight, beating the likes of Tyron Woodley, Robbie Lawler, Rafael Dos Anjos and Demian Maia.
Their exchanges in the media prove that they really hate each other. Blood will surely flow as the UFC 272 event on March 5 will be the main battle of Syria. The best friends of the two former American top teams will finally have a chance to settle their differences where they can actually hurt each other. No shortage is expected from anyone. Of course, this event is going to be very bloody and interesting.
Many other familiar names have tainted the card, including former lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos, who will face off against Rafael Fiziev. The competition was moved from its position as a UFC Fight Night mIan event on February 19 to the UFC 272 co-headline spot when the Fiziev had difficulty obtaining a visa.
