The RIZIN Fighting Federation returned to action on
Wednesday with a rare and thrilling weekly show, RIZIN TRIGER 2. When Kleber
Koike envisioned submitting Ulka Sasaki to the main event of RIZIN Trigger 2 on
Wednesday, and he finally did it, but it was not an easy task.
The event took place on February 23, 2022 at the
Ecopa Arena in Shizuoka, Japan. The main competition of the event featured
former KSW champion Kleber Koike Erbst, looking for his fourth win under the
RIZIN banner. After avoiding a knockdown in the first round, Sasaki was tapped
from behind with a bare square in the second stenza.
Undefeated since signing the promotion, Koike is now
hoping to win the 145-pound gold against Jantaro Ushiko and include teammate
Roberto Satoshi as the RIZIN champion.
In the co-op event, once Shoto title contender
Kazuma Koramoto scored a violent knockout on Kenji Kato, the overdive in the
sphere came to a halt at the bottom of the knee to the mouth.
The fastest finish of the evening ended in a
featherweight showdown between Sora Yamamoto and Suguro Nii, with Yamamoto
stopping his opponent in less than 40 seconds. Yamamoto knocked Nii down with a
privileged hand while waking him up and hugging him with his fists and knees
until the referee told him to.
