Juliana Pena is demanding a rematch after losing her bantamweight title to Amanda Nunes in the UFC 277 main event. Juliana Pena might want to fix some things. For which Pena demanded another thrid fight against Nunes.
Pena defeated Nunes in December at UFC 269 and made biggest upset in UFC history, perhaps due to Nunes' overconfidence. But in her second bout, she suffered a one-sided unanimous decision loss to Nunes, in which he took a lot of damage, including several nasty cuts on her forehead that covered her face for the second half of the fight with her blood.
White said after the fight that Pena was rushed to a plastic surgeon after her forehead was split open in round five with Nunes - who won a unanimous decision (50-45, 50-45) in a "completely dominant" bout. 50-44, 50-43).
After the event, UFC president Dana White said that she will take some time to recover, I don't know how long. She is very beaten tonight. It was like five or six knockdowns in the first two rounds. He was hurt. He needs to take some time off, relax, spend some time with her daughter
Pena, on the other hand, wasted no time in looking towards the final trilogy against Nunes as the series is tied at one win apiece.
"Tougher than a two dollar steak," Pena wrote on Instagram. "Thanks for all the love! Just a cat scratch that required a few stitches, no pieces missing, no surgery necessary. Love you all! We're now 1-1." Pena captioned the post with several hashtags. Closed alongside "The Trilogy" and "Pena vs. Nunes 3".
The final scorecards of the UFC 277 main event gave Nunes every round, including several 10-8 rounds in her favor as she landed six takedowns and three recorded knockdowns.
Still, Pena hung around until the final horn as she showed incredible resilience to fend off Nunes' onslaught for 25 minutes.
But it seems Pena is looking for another chance to make things right after losing her first title defense.
