An important event of the year 2022
which is going to take place on March 5 in Vegas, two title fights have been
held to make this event interesting and thrilling.
Alexander Volkanovski will be
defending his featherweight title for the third time in UFC 272, where he will
step into the octagon against the familiar face Max Holloway, while second
bantamweight champion Aljimain Sterling will face interim titleholder Petr Yan
again.
which was confirmed by UFC
President Dana White in an interview on Wednesday.
The first fight between Volkanovski
and Holloway took place in UFC 245, when Volkanovski won the title by a
unanimous decision from then-champion Holloway.
After the first close fight, the
pair will reunite seven months later, but history will repeat itself as
Volkanovski decides to split closer to UFC 251.
Vulcanoviksi was released from the
cage a year after fighting the Covid-19, but returned to UFC 266 last September
to defend his belt against Brian Ortega.
The Australians defeated Fight of
the Year candidate Brian Ortega last year, while Holloway beat Calvin Katar and
Yair Rodriguez to keep up the pressure on the champions. This impressive win
gave him another shot at the 145lb title.
In the UFC 272 co-host event,
bantamweight champion Sterling will return to the cage to reunite with Yan
after his controversial fight last March.
Yan won the interim title in UFC 267
with a convincing victory over his biggest rival and contender Corey Sandhagan.
And now he will be on his way to
defending his title for the first time in UFC 272.
The question
is, do you think Yan and Alex Volkanowski will be able to defend their
respective titles? Or will the ballet change its owner this time?
