Israel Adesanya vs. Robert Whittaker 2
The UFC is going to have another big
event after a great event against Francis Ngano and interim title holder Cyril
Gain. With the championship at stake, there will be plans for revenge and
opportunities for new faces to consolidate their position as the next big
thing.
On Saturday's UFC 270 broadcast,
Promotion announced five fight lineups for its upcoming February 12
pay-per-view, which will be headlined by a rematch between middleweight
champion Israel Adisania - MMA Fighting World Rankings No. 1 - and former
champion Robert Whitaker (No. 2).
In the participating main event, No.
4 ranked heavyweight Derek Lewis competes against No. 13 Tai Toivasa in his
hometown.
Adesania and Robert Whitaker last appeared at
UFC 243, where "The Last Stylebender" entered the field with a dance
routine and won the second round knockout to become the king of the
middleweight division. Now Adisonia is coming to the third defense of its
middleweight title.
On the other hand, since losing to
Adisnia, Whitaker has returned with three straight-edged victories over Calvin
Gastelm, Canonier, and Darren Till.
In the co-host event, Lewis is
coming out of the first round knockout of Chris Dowkes in December, which
brought him back to the winning column after losing the interim title fight to
Serial Gain at UFC 265. On the other hand, Tiwasa emerged as a contender for
the power of four consecutive knockout victories.
