The two best middleweight fighters in the world will compete in the new year 2022.

Get ready for the biggest UFC match,

Israel Adesanya will defend its UFC middleweight title for the fourth time against its former rival and champion Robert Whitaker at the UFC 271 main event in Houston on February 12. Representatives of the UFC and Adesanya announced the match on Saturday night, but the ruling middleweight champion apparently is not interested in a rematch with the Whitaker.

Adesanya (21-1) has never lost in middleweight and has defended his title three times at 185 pounds. Adesanya defeated Maroon Vettori by a unanimous decision in their final match at UFC 263 in June. Adesanya has basically beaten all the newcomers to the middleweight division, but unfortunately failed to get rid of John Blachucci as the light heavyweight champion in UFC 259. Which was the first defeat of his career. He then returned to his natural fighting weight for his second victory against Marvin Vettori.

Adesanya and Whittaker have previously fought in UFC 243 in which Adesanya defeated Whittaker by a second round knockout.

Whitaker (23-5) has won three in a row to get back on the ballot line since losing the ballot to Adesanya. The New Zealand-born Australian has won 12 of his last 13 fights. The 30-year-old Whitaker won the UFC Middleweight title by defeating Joel Romero in UFC 213 in July 2017, and was later made the undisputed champion. After the victory over Maroon Vettori in UFC 263, the New Zealand player called 'The Rapper' for the match again.

Now the battle is finally settled for UFC 271, and it remains to be seen whether the Whitaker will be able to avenge his loss or whether Israel will continue to rule the Adesanya Middleweight Division.
